Lichess publishes one tactical puzzle per day for the entire site — same position for everyone, rotating every 24 hours. This widget pulls it live, draws the board with retro pixel pieces, tags the position with its theme, and lets you click to reveal the solution.
Before revealing anything, the board itself is playable — tap a piece of the side to move to light up its legal squares, then tap a destination to test your idea. A correct guess flashes green and the opponent's forced reply plays automatically; a wrong guess flashes red and snaps back. Stuck? The 💡 hint button tells you whether the piece you've picked is the right one — no squares, no spoilers. The reveal isn't a static line of moves — it's a click-to-step playback where upcoming moves stay masked until you step onto them. Each tap advances one ply, slides the piece across the board, draws an arrow, and updates a numbered badge so you always know which move is next. Includes a piece tutorial in all 21 supported languages that names every piece and explains how it moves.
